How to Make Cycling More Fun

Here’s a video that tells you the basics on cycling cadence – an easy way to make cycling a lot more fun!

Shifting – cycling is tons more fun when you know how to shift the gears. Unless you have a fixie with only one speed, your bike most likely has a number of gears from which to choose. Finding the right combination will work wonders for you cycling fun.

Adjustment – a bike that’s too small or too large for you is not just dangerous, it’s amazingly uncomfortable. Fortunately, you can do things like adjust the seat to give yourself a little more room.

Accessories – biking is a lot more fun when you have some flexibility with your bike. While things like toe clips help you ride more efficiently, an item like a bike rack helps you haul home the herbs you haggled over at the farmer’s market.

Safety – wearing a helmet not only makes you safer and look cool, it makes you feel safer, which adds to the fun. If you ride around town, you might consider a bell to alert unwary pedestrians or to advise that lady with all those chihuahuas to get to one side of the bike path.

Data – Once upon a time, you had to buy a cycling computer and wire it to your bike to find out how fast you were going. Now there are apps on your cell phone that do all that work for you. Once you know how fast and how far, the journey becomes much more fascinating.

Maintenance – Okay, maintaining your bike doesn’t sound like much fun. The only thing less appealing is riding a bike that squeaks and judders and complains. Luckily, there’s not much to maintaining your bike – oil the chain, adjust the brakes, inflate the tires, clean it up, and you’re on your way!

These simple steps will easily add more fun to your bicycling experience. Happy pedaling!
