How to Air Fry Tater Tots

You love those little spuds – let’s not kid ourselves. If you don’t love the oily fat calories, here’s how to make ’em in the air fryer. You won’t believe how good they taste!

In theory, cooking tater tots in your air fryer is healthier than any other cooking method. This is because you don’t add any cooking oil, driving down the calorie count.

Cooking them could not be easier – just five simple steps:

Step 1: Preheat the air fryer for three minutes.

Set your air fryer to 390 degrees and cook the tater tots for 6 minutes.

Step 2: Pour the tots into the air basket. Try not to let them stack any higher than two deep. It’s important because you want the hot air to circulate around every tot.

Step 3: Cook them at 390 degrees for 6 minutes.

Gently stir the tater tots between cooking cycles to ensure they all get the same amount of hot air.

Step 4: When the timer goes off, open the lid and gently – gently – stir the tots around. If you’re too rough with the spoon, you’ll squish the tots and end up with hash browns. Stir them around so that the hot air reaches different parts of the tots.

Step 5: Cook them at 390 degrees for 5 minutes.

Come on, now. How easy was that? If you like them even crispier, increase the second cook time to 6 minutes. If they’re overdone at 5 minutes, set the timer to 4.

And now you are the Tater Master!

Please note: do not do this procedure if you are not certain that you can complete it safely, or if it doesn’t seem accurate. Skippity Whistles provides this information as advice, and cannot accept any liability for your usage of it.
